Typical British pub culture experience

The restaurant "The Three John Scotts - JD Wetherspoon" in Hull, England, is a remarkable example of typical British pub culture, operated by the well-known chain JD Wetherspoon. It is located in a historic building that once served as the main post office and captivates with its impressive architecture and generous layout. This combination of historical charm and modern hospitality makes it a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

Historic building to visit in Hull

The name of the pub is a tribute to three successive vicars of the opposite St. Mary’s Church, all of whom bore the name John Scott in the 19th century – a father, his son, and his grandson. This intriguing historical connection is highlighted inside the restaurant through informational panels that provide guests with insights into local history. The building itself is a testament to Hull's past and adds an extra cultural dimension to the visit.

Best fish and chips in Hull

Culinarily, "The Three John Scotts" adheres to the classic Wetherspoon philosophy: a wide selection of traditional British dishes and internationally inspired meals at an excellent value for money. Particularly noteworthy are classics like Fish & Chips, which are valued for their crispy batter and tender filling, as well as juicy steaks that are often mentioned as a highlight. For vegetarians, there are appealing options like the halloumi burger, which impresses with its spicy notes. The dessert menu also tempts with sweet delights such as creamy ice cream or freshly baked bagels, perfect with a cup of coffee. The offerings are complemented by regular promotions like the Curry Club or the Steak Club, which add variety to the menu.

Vegetarian options in the pub

The drinks menu is equally diverse and a central part of the experience. In addition to a selection of local real ales that delight beer lovers, there are craft beers and international lagers like the Italian Poretti, which stands out with its full-bodied flavor. Those preferring non-alcoholic options can look forward to freshly ground Lavazza coffee, served especially in the morning for breakfast. This breakfast offering is another hallmark of the establishment and attracts guests looking to start their day with a hearty meal.

Lively atmosphere on weekends

The interior is spacious and inviting, with high tables and cozy seating areas suitable for larger groups as well as individual visitors. A particular highlight is the large beer garden at the back, which is a popular spot in the summer to enjoy the sun. The atmosphere is lively, especially on weekends when the pub is well-frequented, but the service remains efficient and friendly despite the busyness. Staff are often praised for their helpfulness and quick service, which enhances the pleasant experience.

Always a great place to visit for a drink and food the only let down is the toilets there very dirty espically the disabled toilet which is a worring factor when eating here. I've seen staff memeber sign the check board but never seen anyone actually clean it could do to employ a proper cleaner to clean the Facility. Recently found the menus aren't getting wiped down and are very sticky and dirty also found that the sauce bottles are dirty but my mum loves the fact they still have Langhams garlic and chillie sauce in some weatherspoons but not all .

Your typical JDW: cheap, bad service and a bunch of drunks. Stay away from this chain.
